Helmut Zaderer has travelled the globe extensively in search of pristine fly fishing experiences. He loves to fly fish for giant trevally on the flats, but he is equally fascinated with fly fishing for the predators of the Amazon.


There aren’t many places left on this planet that haven’t been fished intensively. The Red Sea is one of those places, and especially the Sudanese parts of it can provide extremely good flats fishing for triggerfish, bonefish, and giant trevally.


It’s not really a lake, nor is it a river, despite having a subtle west to east flow. Despite the identity crisis, this small body of water is commonly classified as one of the hottest pieces of fly fishing real-estate on the planet!
