Anglers from all over Europe flock to Fyn each year for the thrill of sea trout fishing. This island offers a variety of coastal fishing spots, from reefs to sandy beaches, in a truly unique and breathtaking setting. While this isn’t the place for those seeking to catch 20 fish a day, it’s perfect for anglers who value the experience and the challenge. Seatrout, known for their strength and spectacular jumps, vary in size, with many averaging 35-55 cm, and the occasional trophy-sized fish of 60-80 cm. The reward of catching these powerful fish in the sea is an unforgettable experience.

Flies and Tackle

The flies mostly used for seatrout includes various baitfish, crustacean, worm and attractor patterns. Stock your fly box with Cutthroat Gobius, Kobberbassen, Frede, Pattegrisen, RPO Magic Ragworm, RPO Wiggling Sandeel, Jiggy, Yellow Tail Fry and similar Danish seatrout patterns.

When we fish with Denmark Fishing Lodge we use our 9′ 6-weight Scott Sector fly rods with  Lamson Speedster reels and Volantis Intermediate WF fly lines from Scientific Anglers. (If it gets windy, you might want to opt for a 7-weight). Fluorocarbon leaders of up to 5 meters (tapering into a 0,25mm tippet) are ideal. And here’s a tip: Using two flies (a big and a small fly or an imitation and a provocation fly) can often increase the catch rates considerably.
