Chelatna Lake Lodge sits at the foot of Denali National Park, one of America’s true national treasures. Nestled a hundred miles northwest of Anchorage, and within a one-hour flight, our lodge provides breathtaking vistas of Mount Denali and the Alaska Range. With a maximum capacity of 16 guests nightly, Chelatna Lake Lodge presents a variety of diverse trip packages with over a dozen adventure activities. When it comes to the fly fishing opportunities, the lodge is mostly known for it’s rainbow trout, lake char, and arctic grayling, which can be targeted with single-handed rods and a variety of dry flies, nymphs, and streamers. There are also salmon runs that can be targeted.
A long history
In 1939, a group of two Norweigans bushwhacked their way to Chelatna Lake, crafting the original cabin with hand tools and local spruce. In a little over a decade our property will have been standing for over a century. Matt Berke, a third-generation Alaskan, assumed the management of Chelatna Lake Lodge from his father in 2016. Alongside his partner Emily, they have over 33 years experience in the lodge business in Denali country. Living at the lodge year round, they go beyond the seasonal worker role, embodying the modern Alaskan dream.
You can expect clean, comfortable and well-appointed accommodations at Chelatna Lake Lodge . The lodging borders on “Alaska luxury” considering its remote fly-in location. The lodge has deluxe Justus Cedar two-bedroom and two bathroom chalets, an impressive main lodge and dining room, a separate lodge for recreating, and a lakeside wood-fired hot tub and sauna, all facing one of the most outstanding views that Denali National Park provides.
Their program includes fishing, wildlife viewing, flightseeing, helicopter adventures, hiking, overnight raft trips, birding, kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming, boat excursions, archery, lawn sports, and much more. From short visits to week-long family retreats, Chelatna Lake Lodge provides trip options that make it distinct from the ordinary “Denali road experience.”
